Former President Donald Trump went to X to announce that he will launch a strategy on Thursday to help establish the United States as the crypto leader.
The Republican presidential contender also mentioned World Liberty Financial in his statement, a DeFi enterprise sponsored by his sons.
“This afternoon, I’m laying out my plan to ensure that the United States is the world’s crypto capital,” Trump said in the post, which ended with the World Liberty Financial logo.
A few weeks ago, Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, promised an imminent statement on cryptocurrency and DeFi. Their father has also sought to generate interest around the rumoured upcoming announcement.
An hour before Trump wrote on Thursday, a warning was issued on World Liberty Financial’s Telegram channel, urging customers to be wary of scammers. “We have been made aware of some ads circulating on Telegram claiming to be from us, offering fake airdrops or token sales,” according to the statement. “We are not doing any airdrops or selling any tokens at this time.”
Since speaking at Bitcoin BTC +3.57% in July 2024, Trump appears more interested in recruiting crypto-conscious voters and becoming involved on an entrepreneurial level. NFT collections with Trump’s visage have been on the market since late 2022.
Trump pledged to dismiss Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler at the Bitcoin conference. He further stated that if elected in November, he would prevent the United States from selling its bitcoin assets, therefore creating a “strategic bitcoin reserve.”
It’s unknown what services World Liberty Financial will provide or how Trump will be involved.
